A beautiful and well-kept garden is above all a harmonised, perfectly planned space. A permanent solution to keep unwanted plants away is to use a special coating, i.e. an agro-textile fabric. Thanks to it, flowerbeds, vegetable beds and planting areas will remain free of weeds, which would not only spoil the aesthetics of the planting, but also harm the development of cultivated plants. Agro-woven fabric is usually available in dark colours, especially black and brown. Does the choice of colour matter?
At the outset, however, it is worth answering the question as to what purpose it serves agro-fibre i what it is is. It is the covering material most commonly used for mulching, inhibiting the germination and growth of weeds. It has an irregular structure of tangled fibres, but thin enough to allow moisture and air to pass through. We offer dark-coloured coverings so that they absorb the sun’s rays. They also warm up the ground, which speeds up the growth of protected plants and their yield. The agro-textile mulch also protects the crop from frost, pests and diseases. It also helps to maintain the right moisture level in the soil and protects the crop from drought.
The dark colour of the agro-textile blocks sunlight from reaching the soil. As a result, the crop does not have to fight weeds for access to water and moisture. A brown coloured mulching fabric is also available in our range. We recommend its selection to those who want the covering to blend in perfectly with the garden environment. Like black, it absorbs the sun’s rays, but is suitable for many substrates, including, for example, peat and bark. It therefore provides a valuable solution for those people who want a garden arrangement that is refined in every detail. It is unobtrusive, creating a space that is pleasing to the eye. The brown sheet heats up less, so we recommend it for use with fruit and vegetables that need a lot of water to grow, such as creeping plants like pumpkin, courgette or watermelon.
In our shop we have this covering fabric in two weights: 50 and 80 g/m². Both belong to the group of heavier sheets, ideally insulating against outdoor conditions and weeds. Decisions about, which agro-textile to buyThe colour of the fleece is especially suitable for flower and fruit beds. A brown coloured nonwoven is particularly suitable for flower beds or fruit crops. Black nonwoven is the best choice when water retention for the crop is a priority, e.g. for thermophilic vegetables exposed to sunburn.
Once the decision has been made, which agro-textile to chooseIt is also important to ensure that it is laid correctly. The preparation of the soil is a key step here. It is advisable to thoroughly clean the soil of sticks, leaves, stones and weeds, in addition to applying fertiliser. We recommend spreading the fleece before planting, so that the plants have excellent growing conditions at all times and are protected from weeds.
Agro mulching fabric in black and brown must be tailored to the specific needs of your garden. We supply materials that will provide effective protection against weeds, plus give you something more — the satisfaction of running your own plot, crop, orchard or plantation.
